The course includes textbook lesson instruction, homework support, fun hands-on activities, and daily practice check-ins. While learning Chinese in a structured and systematic way, students will also develop good study habits and a lasting interest in language learning.

New students are required to complete a language skills assessment in order to be placed in the most suitable class level.

Grade 1-3 Chinese Class

Course content:

  • Focus on listening and speaking to build a natural sense of Chinese and confidence in expression.

  • The course uses the integrated textbook Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids, which is designed for beginner learners overseas. The curriculum is centered around children’s interests and emphasizes listening and speaking first, followed by reading and writing.

  • Through songs, dialogues, and role-playing activities, the program focuses on developing students’ listening comprehension and spoken Chinese. Reading and writing begin with basic stroke introduction and fundamental character writing, gradually progressing to reading simple sentences.

  • 👉 Over the course of the year, students are expected to learn about 280 words and characters with the goal of “understanding and speaking,” helping them naturally begin speaking Chinese.
    Cultural elements such as traditional stories and major Chinese festivals are also incorporated, allowing children to develop cultural awareness while learning the language.

Grade 4-6 Chinese Class

Course content:

  • Strengthening Literacy Skills and Elevating Overall Chinese Proficiency

  • This course uses Chinese (Revised, Third Edition) compiled by the Chinese Language and Culture College of Jinan University, a commonly used overseas textbook by Confucius Institutes.

  • Building on students’ listening and speaking abilities, the course provides systematic instruction in Pinyin while placing strong emphasis on developing reading and Chinese character writing skills. The goal is to help students transition from simply being able to speak Chinese to being able to read and write it confidently.

  • 👉 Stage Learning Goals:
    Students will learn to read and write approximately 120 commonly used Chinese characters and master around 200 commonly used words, including their standard pronunciation, writing, and practical usage.

  • The curriculum also incorporates themes related to traditional Chinese festivals, introducing cultural stories and customs. This helps students deepen their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture while learning the language.

Ms. Dewei, also know as "Teacher Panda", is experienced in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages.  Ms. Dewei is an expert in teaching Chinese to children. In her class, she adopts immersive teaching method, and makes the class very interactive. Songs, interactive games, and handicrafts etc. are used in the class to engage the students. She also includes Chinese traditional culture in class, helping the students learn Chinese naturally in an authentic and pragmatic way.

For students with a weaker foundation in Chinese, Ms. Dewei uses English as a supporting language in her instruction to lower the learning barrier, allowing students to learn Chinese in a relaxed and confident environment.
