PoincareQED English Classes
The aim of the class is to improve students’ writing, reading and oral communicational skills. Students are not only encouraged to think about the world around them but are also encouraged to be critical and pragmatic with regards to the literary works covered in class. Writing assignments are given every week involving mostly argumentative essays. These are specifically designed to challenge and to teach students to construct coherent arguments and logical sequences of thoughts while enhancing their grammar, spelling and vocabulary. Reading material include (but are not limited to) books highly ranked by Ontario high school teachers.

(G1 - G4)
Course content and textbooks:

Vocabulary and reading textbook: Wordly Wise 3000. The book level relates to the Grade of the class.

Grammar textbook: SAP Learning English grammar.

Writing textbook: Success With Writing.

Homework will be provided every week to allow students to practice the lessons taught in class.

English Reading
(G5 – G10)
Course content and textbooks:
The aim of the class is to improve students’ reading comprehensive skills and boost up students’ vocabulary level. Students are not only encouraged to think about the world around them but are also encouraged to be critical with regards to the literary works covered in class. Reading material include (but are not limited to) books highly ranked by Ontario school teachers.
Vocabulary and reading textbook: Wordly Wise 3000. The book level relates to the Grade of the class.
Novel and article reading list of each grade will be provided by teacher in the class.
Homework will be provided every week to allow students to practice the lessons taught in class.

English Creative Writing (G4 – G7)

The aim of the class is to improve students’ creative writing skills. Focusing on teaching creative writing techniques, training structure of writing different genres.
Each class includes teaching sessions, workshop and editing students writing exercises.
Writing homework are assigned on weekly basis.

Course content:
Interview is an important factor in admissions decisions. Many private high schools include interviews as a part of the admissions process.
The aim of this course is to prepare students for passing the interviews at private high schools in Toronto.
The students will become familiar with the style and timing of the interviews, and will learn about the possible questions that may be asked.
Students will practice both general interview skills and questions based on the specific requirements of the schools.
